class 3

8:00 – the class begins. In order to make the students to get ready to be in the class, she makes them do some physical excercise. Then she makes them read the gramar section with the theory of the present perfect. There are some interruptions coming from the same students who misbehaved in the previous clases. She asks them to show her what part of the book they are Reading. They seem to pass the time thinking about something else and being completly stranded from the class. The students do not know what to answer so the teacher asks another student to answer.
8:10 – the teacher goes on with the class making different students read the instructions for the uses of the present perfect. She explains in her own words what they have read. She reads the examples of the book and asks the students to give the meaning of those examples in Spanish.
8:15 – she goes on to ask each of the students questions about their own lives with the structure “have you ever…?” , for example have you ever had measles?.
8:30 - She writes in the blackboard some uses with ever, never, yet, already, and just. She writes in the blackboard examples of structures with ever and never and then explains when they are going to use them.
8:35 - She reads examples from the book with yet, already and just and then asks them to give her the meaning of those sentences. Then she writes in the blackboard structures with yet for the student to give the meanning of. Then she tells them when they are going to use it.
8:42 - Then she chooses a group of three students who are silent and ask them to read what is written in the blackboard and to explain it. They do it with dificulties but they are helped by the teacher.
8:50 - Another students are becoming noisy and distracting the class. She tells her to pay attention to the exlpanation of the gramar instructions of the present perfect because they are going to need it when doing the excercises. So she goes on explaining the uses.
8:53 – the class finishes while the teacher gives them homework in which they have to complete sentences with the present perfect.

I think that the problem here is that the teacher does not have the image of authority for the students. They most of the time have misbehaved. I think she has to be harder with them when asking them to pay attention and to stop interrupting the class.
It has been seen that the teacher an aproximation of a passive technitian model because she does no brin extra material of her own to share with the class. She is all the time sticked to the book. And when she sees she is running out of time she tries to cover the whole part of what was planned without paying attention to the students needs.
